Slovakia is a republic in central Europe, bordered on the north-west of the Czech Republic (215 km) north of Poland (444 km) east of Ukraine (97 km) south of Hungary (677 km) south-west and Austria (91 km). Slavs settled indigenous population most current territory of Slovakia in the fifth century AD. Slovakia became part of the empire of Samo in the seventh century and flourished as an independent state in the ninth century in what is known Bmoravea major with the arrival of Tcyril and Matodios and expansion under the rule of King Sfatobluk.
