Kathmandu (Nepal: काठमाडौं], is the capital and largest city in Nepal is the only city in Nepal, which includes administrative status of Mahanagar (Metropolitan City), compared with UPA-to Mahanagar (south of the capital). Kathmandu is the largest urban agglomeration in Nepal which located in the Kathmandu valley consists of Lalitpur, Kirtipur, Madhyapur Thimi, a number of small communities, it is also famous for Kathmandu as the "KTM" or "triple city" and so informally. according to the census of 2011, had a population of Kathmandu Metropolitan approximately 975 453 to space 50.67 square kilometers (19.56 square miles).

It's also one of the legendary cities and which can be accessed at Shangri-La, Kathmandu is now a hub for independent travelers as well as the growing attraction of the city with the provision of different foods and appropriate for all budgets. Most people in Kathmandu follow the Hindu religion and many other religions such as Buddhism spread. There are people who have other religious beliefs and different global cultures.

Nepali is the most widely used language in the city, although a lot of knowledge in English by the literate population in Kathmandu.
